Dealing With Existential Angst

Existential angst is a sad atheistic belief that confirms what Scripture teaches. This 1-minute devotion explains. #BibleLoveNotes #Bible

An atheist wrote telling me the reason people believe in God is simply "existential angst"(1) arising from the "fact that the universe is founded on chance and indifference."

1. She's right about the "existential angst."
Many people seek God to overcome feelings of pointlessness - why not? Our souls know we were made for something better.(2)

2. She's wrong about the "fact."
Honest evolutionists admit it's a theory with flaws. No human witnessed the origin of our world, but when we know the Lord, we trust His account.(3)

3. She's wrong about a universe of chance and indifference
We see the divine nature of God and the damage of mankind's sin everywhere in our world (Romans 1:20; Genesis 3; Romans 8:22-25).

There's no "chance" or "indifference" in our God. He even predicted that people like this atheist would "deliberately forget that long ago by God's word the heavens came into being and the earth was formed..."  2 Peter 3:3-5

Isn't it wonderful to know our lives are not pointless—and one point of our lives is to point lost souls to the Creator!

  1. Wonderfully written. Lately, I have started differentiating between anti-theists who don't want anyone to worship God or have any belief system and atheists who don't believe in God but don't care if I do. It seems like many satanists and evil people try to hide behind the atheist label when they are really anti-theists.

    1. That's an interesting observation, Susan.
I'm sure that not all atheists are "evangelistic" about their atheism, and I probably run into more because what I write is on social media.
      Thanks for your insights.
