When I wrote about the dangers of "50 Shades of Grey" (here), a woman wrote: "I read the book and can't wait for the movie! And I'm proud of it."
Her proud affirmation of pornography so clearly reflected the message of Romans 1:18-32 which explains that sin is a slippery slope:
- Sin darkens our understanding (v. 21).
- It "brainwashes" us so we "do what ought not to be done" (v. 28).
- Eventually, we not only enjoy sin, we celebrate it (v. 32).
Our world is in rapid moral decline, and most people are going with the flow.
But 2 Corinthians 10:5 tells us how we can fight the landslide of immorality in our world:
"We demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God, and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ."
This means:
This means:
- We don't approve something just because "everyone" approves it.
- We don't read and watch things that glorify sin.
- We don't compromise our values because others are compromising theirs.
- We trust the knowledge of God, not the knowledge of men.
