How False Teachers Help Us

False Teachers can actually help us to develop our faith. This 1-minute devotion offers 5 ways they do this. #BibleLoveNotes #Biblestudy

Scripture warns us that there will always be false prophets among us, perverting the gospel and misleading Christians.

It can seem pretty discouraging.

But let’s look at it from a positive perspective.

1. They compel us to study God’s Word so we can divide truth from error (2 Timothy 2:15).

2. They illustrate the importance of developing discernment so we’re not taken captive by lies (Colossians 2:8).

3. They remind us we have an enemy and we need to be prepared for battle (Ephesians 6:10-13).

4. They serve as a warning to us that not everyone in the church is a genuine believer (Matthew 13:24-30).(1)

5. They give us opportunities to take a stand for Christ (1 Corinthians 15:58).

Romans 8:28 tells us that God can use anything, even false prophets, for our good.

“And we know [with great confidence] that God [who is deeply concerned about us] causes all things to work together [as a plan] for good for those who love God, to those who are called according to His plan and purpose.” (AMP)

(1) This is a good thing because it encourages us to check everything a fellow believer tells us against God's Word so we won't be misled by the "weeds" described in Matthew 13.

  1. HI Gail, I absolutely love this. I was trying to encourage my bible study group to always test everything they read or hear against the word. This is a great post rounding that all up.
    God bless

  2. I like that idea... look at it from a positive viewpoint and as a trigger to study the Bible!

  3. What if a pastor is greedy, don't admit wrongs (always saying "did I do that? I cannot recall.."), favour those who are rich taking advantage on them, tell lies, bad mouth about her committee members to other members causes misunderstandings and divisions amongst the people, telling others that salary is not justified as he is highly educated, always never prepare well for events like housewarming and blessings occassions. Hope you can advise how to handle such a insincere and money minded so call "Leader"?.

    1. Hi Grab,
This seems like a situation that the elders of the church should address. And if the elders are not willing to confront this pastor, perhaps you should find another church.
I'm sorry that you are dealing with this disappointing situation.
      May God give you wisdom.
