“Right is right even if no one is doing it. Wrong is wrong even if everyone is doing it.” St. Augustine
St. Augustine understood this quote. He'd taught worldly philosophies and lived in drunkenness and immorality before his conversion.
After he gave himself wholeheartedly to God, he made it his mission to expose errors in the culture and the church.
Christians must do the same today.
Our culture is pressuring us to accept sexual acts against God’s loving design.
And false teachers are distracting Christians from God's purposes with “vending-machine faith.” They're replacing self-denial, commitment, obedience and reverence with self-love and promises of health, wealth, and comfort (Matthew 16:24; 1 John 2:15-17).
We must guard our hearts against false teachings. We must warn believers that they cannot build on the foundation of Christ by approving sexual sin or promoting vending-machine faith (1 Corinthians 3:11-15).
"Have nothing to do with the fruitless deeds of darkness, but rather expose them. Don't let anyone capture you with empty philosophies and high-sounding nonsense." Ephesians 5:11 and Colossians 2:8
