Slander Against Christians Is On the Rise

Christians are under attack and we need to stand firm. This devotion explains how to deal with slander.

Several years ago, a woman
attempted to discredit my prolife beliefs by claiming I'd once told a pregnant woman it was better for her to die than get medical treatment she needed.

Not only had I never said this, I've always believed and taught that when a mother's life is threatened by her pregnancy, she should be given the medical care she needs to stay alive. Such medical treatment isn't called an abortion because every attempt is made to save the child's life if possible. Abortion, on the other hand, has one purpose: to kill the baby.

When I confronted this woman about her lie, she called it a “misunderstanding” and further attacked my character, claiming that she was a godly Christian and I wasn't (James 1:26).

It saddened me to see how thoroughly Satan can blind people to the truth about abortion (2 Corinthians 4:4and teach them to speak his native language” as described in John 8:44.

John 15:18-2125 warns that true followers of Jesus will be hated without reason, and this is happening more and more as our culture embraces immorality and child sacrifice.

So many who claim to be Christians have an outward form of godliness while denying the power and importance of God's truth (2 Timothy 3:1-5).

I was hurt by this situation, but I was also able to rejoice because of the promise in these verses: Matthew 5:11-12

This devotion explains another of Satan's lies about abortion:
Satan's Tactic: Use Lies to Scare People

And check out this ridiculous way a well-known “Christian” manipulated facts and Scripture to claim voting for abortion candidates was perfectly fine with God: From Veggie Tales to Situational Ethics.

John 15:18-21; 25, the words of our Lord Jesus:

“If the world hates you, keep in mind that it hated me first. If you belonged to the world, it would love you as its own. As it is, you do not belong to the world, but I have chosen you out of the world. That is why the world hates you. Remember what I told you: ‘A servant is not greater than his master.’ If they persecuted me, they will persecute you also. If they obeyed my teaching, they will obey yours also. They will treat you this way because of my name, for they do not know the one who sent me...But this is to fulfill what is written* in their Law: ‘They hated me without reason.”

James 1:26“Those who consider themselves religious and yet do not keep a tight rein on their tongues deceive themselves, and their religion is worthless.”

2 Timothy 3:1-5: But mark this: There will be terrible times in the last days. People will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boastful, proud, abusive, disobedient to their parents, ungrateful, unholy, without love, unforgiving, slanderous, without self-control, brutal, not lovers of the good, treacherous, rash, conceited, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God— having a form of godliness but denying its power. Have nothing to do with such people.
