Drawing Closer to Jesus

This 1-minute devotion explains an incredibly important aspect of our growth as a Christian. #BibleLoveNotes #Bible

When we commit our lives to Christ, we become children of God.

We don’t know everything about our eternity – there are many unknowns (1 Corinthians 13:12). But we know it is going to be perfect and we are going to be perfect (Philippians 3:20-21).

But do you know how we become perfect?

By seeing Christ perfectly!

Looking into our Savior’s face will change us instantly because we’ll see Him as He really is.

"Dear friends, now we are children of God, and what we will be has not yet been made known. But we know that when Christ appears, we shall be like him, for we shall see him as he is." 1 John 3:2

We start becoming like Jesus now (2 Corinthians 3:18), and that should be our highest goal in this present life (Philippians 3:10).

Our present knowledge of God has value here and in eternity (1 Timothy 4:8).

So let’s reject distorted views of Jesus (2 Corinthians 11:14) and get to know Him the only way that we can know Him as He really is - from His Word.

  1. This reminded me of saint Jerome who insisted that "ignorance of Scripture is ignorance of Christ".
Several years ago I started to read and read the Bible, particularly the New Testament, and I try to read every day, at least twice a day, in the morning and at the end of the day. And what a blessing it has been! That habit has kept me close and closer of God. And your reflections and insights that you share with us... some of them touched me in particular, because I see similar things in my walk/journey and they are a great encouragement to me. As we know scripture we begin to think differently and our love for God and for others changes too! And the boldness to call our Father Aba increases!
I pray that you can continue doing this for many years to come. God bless you!

    1. Hi Ana,
Yes! The more we read God's Word the closer we get to Him.
Good for you for being so faithful to do that!
And thank you for your kind encouragement.
      God bless you.

    2. It's funny you mention St. Jerome as he was one of the most well known mistranslators of the bible from Hebrew and Greek to Latin. The Latin Vulgate is the root of the orthodoxy's misdirection

    3. Im what way are Christian Universalists not Christian brothers and sisters? I consider ECT subscribers as my Christian brothers and sisters and non Christian brothers and sisters God's loved children. Ask yourself what constitutes being a Christian in your heart and mind as an ECT Christian and then carefully review the beliefs or core tenants of Christian Universalism and you will see we are also very much Christian

    4. I'm not sure why you are asking this question since it's not mentioned in this devotion. Can someone believe a lie like universal salvation and still be saved? It depends on a number of variables. I'm sure a baby Christian could believe it or a Christian who never grew in their Bible knowledge. But I would have greater doubts about their faith if they claimed that Scripture is mistranslated.
