Every Path Does Not Lead to God

People say it without thinking, but there is absolutely no way all faiths can lead to God. This 1-minute devotion explains why.

After reading So Many Voices, a woman wrote saying I should be ashamed that I called non-Christian religions "false."

I responded by explaining that the Bible says Jesus is the only way of salvation and those who reject Him go to hell.

Because I believe the Bible, I'd be wrong not to warn people of this truth.

See John 10:9-10, John 14:6, Acts 4:12, 1 John 2:23, and 1 John 5:20 for a sampling of what the Bible teaches about there being only one true God.

I'm not surprised that this truth offends people. Jesus said that the world would hate us for believing He is the Son of God (John 15:18).

And while I like approval as much as anyone, I hope every devotion I write is based on Biblical truth.

And I pray that I will never be ashamed to share that "Whoever has the Son has life; whoever does not have God’s Son does not have life" (1 John 5:12).

  1. I'm glad you are unashamed to tell the truth. If your devotions weren't based on biblical truth they would be worthless. Good for you for being bold enough to warn people of something that you will get hated on for. I stand with you.God bless you for doing what is right.

  7. Why is Jesus right and an earlier god wrong? Who said, other than the bible, that Jesus is right and earlier gods are wrong? The bible is a book. Why is this books version of history and truth 'right' and all others 'wrong'? And can you prove any of this, without the book?

    1. Hi Darkstorm,

      Truth is truth.
      For example, 2+2=4.
A million people can believe that 2+2=5, but all that proves is that a million people can be wrong. There can only be one truth about God.

What proof do I have that Jesus is the only way to God as the Bible teaches and why do I know that the Bible is not merely a human book?

The proof is in the difference Jesus has made in my life and in the lives of millions of people throughout history. Jesus is not about mere words. Following Jesus is about the power to change our lives and the knowledge in our mind and spirit that we have found the only answer to life - that we are sinners in need of a Savior and we can't save ourselves, but we can choose to believe in the Only God who can save men.

You don't have to believe as I believe, but I encourage you to sincerely ask God to reveal Himself to you. I have no doubts that if you do that with a sincere heart and an open mind, you will find Jesus as I have found Him.

One day we will have the kind of proof that everyone will understand. But God doesn't make it obvious because He wants true followers who believe with their hearts, not simply because of evidence. For Christians faith is believing in what we cannot yet see, but we know with all our hearts is true.

  8. Gail,
I do admire your faith. I am a believer on Jesus Christ, but my faith isn't as strong as yours. Anyway while I dig your faith, I believe there is more to the answer owed to Darkstorm. So here goes...
Darkstorm, we can come up with all kinds of answers to your questions. We can tell you how our belief in Jesus has changed our lives and the lives of other we know. We can tell you how Jesus has made big differences in our lives. But truth be told, you can probably say the same things about whatever it is you believe in. See, the truth is that no matter what people believe in, it is those things that they will attribute their good fortune to.

Here's the true reality of belief in Jesus Christ. He will prove to you His life. If you ask seriously enough, and long enough, Jesus Himself will show you the truth of His existence. Once He shows you, you will never doubt that again. This is really what freightens people... once you have the truth of God's reality, there is absolutely no more excuses for the negative things you want to do. The thing people don't realize is that there is freedom in obedience. Eh but that's all here nor there.

So here's my challenge to you Darkstorm... Take the plunge... Once, every day, ask Jesus to prove to you that He truly exists. Just make sure you're ready for that answer because, that answer won't just change your life, or your circumstances, or your friends, or your job... It will change everything about you.

  9. I am Christian and I think all paths do lead to God as there is only One God. However, what attribute of God we experience is different. Because of Jesus and my following Him He will lead me to a loving Father. Without Jesus as our Savior, Shepherd we will be lead to wrath by false "shepherds" who have no authority to lead us into the Kingdom of the one true God. Does that make sense. We must warn others.

    1. If I understand what you are saying, you believe that every person is on a path that can take them to God if they respond. Yes. Accepting or rejecting Christ is a personal choice. The purpose of this devotion is to point out that other religions are not true and lead to false gods. I think we agree.
