A smile is an inexpensive way to change your looks.
Smiles and laughter make us more attractive. And Proverbs 17:22 tells us that joy is good for body and soul: “A joyful heart is good medicine” (NASB).
Science confirms this Bible passage: laughter improves blood flow, blood sugar levels, immune system response, and sleep patterns.
“We change physiologically when we laugh. We stretch muscles throughout our face and body, our pulse and blood pressure go up, and we breathe faster, sending more oxygen to our tissues...it can be like a mild workout -- and may offer some of the same advantages..." (WebMD)
Often Christians are stereotyped as sour-faced and stern. Let's do our best to break that stereotype! We'll feel better, look more beautiful and our smiles and laughter can be good medicine for those around us too.© copyright Gail Burton Purath, 2011
