4 Keys for Defeating Satan - 1 Samuel 17

David's defeat of Goliath offers 4 keys for defeating Satan in our lives. #BibleLoveNotes #Bible

Satan is a "Goliath," calling out God's people, taunting us, claiming he'll destroy us.

And we need to respond like David.

You see, David did something remarkable. He was aggressive. He struck the first blow (1 Samuel 17:48-49). He didn't wait for Goliath to wound him.

And we shouldn't wait for Satan to attack either.

"Prepare your minds for action, keep sober in spirit, fix your hope completely on the grace to be brought to you at the revelation of Jesus Christ." 1 Peter 1:13

1. Prepare our minds for action.
Let's feed our faith before the battle (Colossians 3:16).

2. Keep Sober. Let's be alert/aware of Satan's tricks and influences (1 Peter 5:8).

3. Fix our hope on Jesus. Let's depend on Christ's strength (Philippians 4:13) and take up our shield of faith (Ephesians 6:16).

4. Strike first!

Like David, we can be aggressive in defeating our giants because we are depending on God's Name and strength, not our own (1 Samuel 17:45-47).

  1. My giant is to grow in Christ; to accept the health limitations He has brought to me and use my time wisely. I can still pray. He brought it to me. He promises He won't give me more than I can handle and that He will see me thru it. I need to stop pouting!

Thank you so much for such timely, spot on messages; they are blessings!

  4. My giant is my job. I have been there almost 4 years and have never been offered a raise, making minimum wage ($7.50 an hour), no vacation, no benefits. I am seeking a better job closer to home; trying to patiently wait on God

    1. I will continue to pray for you, Marian. I know these type of situations can be very difficult and I will pray that God does a miracle in all of your lives. I know he will bless you and your husband for respecting his mother. I am sorry that it is so difficult. Keep pressing into God, praying and seeking Him when things get tough. God bless you,

    2. Please pray for my family and I as we are under a serious attack, actually more than one, and some days it feels like it's easier to just allow the enemy a win....

      Love wins right?
      Truth always outweighs deceit?

What happened to love your neighbor?

    3. I'm so sorry about this attack, and I have prayed for you. Yes, in the end, the Love of God wins. His Truth prevails. But here on earth there are many challenges and sometimes the wrong people seem to win. But God promises justice in eternity. Hang in there, read your Bible, prayer and pour out your heart to God, seek to follow Christ in all that you do, and He will never leave you or forsake you.
