A Popular Lie: You Can Do Anything You Set Your Mind to Do!

"We Can Do Anything We Set Our Minds to Do" is one of the most ridiculous claims! It's not logical, and it's not biblical. This 1-minute devotion explains.

"We can do anything we set our minds to do. All we have to do is believe in ourselves."

This is an extremely popular saying, but it's not true.

We can't do anything we set our minds to do.

For example, no matter how much I practice, I will never be a popular recording artist or a great mathematician. God didn't give me those gifts or opportunities.

The truth is: We can do anything God has called us to do, no matter how difficult. All we have to do is believe in His character and depend on His strength (Philippians 4:13).

God is looking for humble, self-controlled, diligent Christians, aware of their limitations as well as their strengths:

"Don't think you are better than you really are. Be honest in your evaluation of yourselves, measuring yourselves by the faith God has given us." Romans 12:3 NLT

Let's not "set our minds" on our plans. Let's set them on God's plans and purposes (Ephesians 2:10).
