Should we care if there are levels of Hell? It may seem irrelevant for born-again Christians. But God talks about it in Scripture, so He must want us to understand that some sins are more serious than others, and they have more serious consequences.
In Matthew 11:22-23, Jesus talks about the day of judgment and explains that people who rejected Him after witnessing His miracles will be judged more severely than those who did not see them.
Then in Luke 12, Jesus addresses a variety of sins from hypocrisy to blaspheming the Holy Spirit, and He says:
“The servant who knows the master’s will and does not get ready or does not do what the master wants will be beaten with many blows. But the one who does not know and does things deserving punishment will be beaten with few blows. From everyone who has been given much, much will be demanded; and from the one who has been entrusted with much, much more will be asked” (Jesus, Luke 12:47-48).
"Blackest darkness" awaits false teachers (2 Peter 2:17). See also Matthew 18:6.
It’s essential that we understand:
All sin is bad (Romans 3:23).
All of God’s punishments are deserved because He's a perfect Judge who knows every detail of every life (Deuteronomy 32:4; Isaiah 30:18; Psalm 33:5; Jeremiah 9:24; Matthew 12:18-20; Hebrews 1:8; Revelation 19:11).
God judges each person according to their opportunities and motives, and He punishes some sins more severely than others.
