Six Important Clues in Answering the Question "Why Does God Allow Evil?"

This 1-minute devotion offers an answer to the question: Why Doesn't God Stop Evil?

If you'd like to watch Gail share this devotion, you can do that on YouTube: Why Does God Allow Evil?

Dear Christians, let's be prepared to answer this difficult question:

Why doesn't God stop the terrible evil in our world?

First, let's put evil in context: Death, decay, sickness, natural disasters, and sin are all results of the fall. Adam's sin damaged God's perfect world (Genesis 3).

Second, let's put evil in perspective: Life involves suffering which is the result of the fall, but life is short compared to eternity (2 Corinthians 4:8-18).

Third, let's remember how much Christ suffered because of evil: He died on the cross to free us from sin and give us an eternity without suffering and evil (John 3:16; Revelation 21:1-8).

Fourth, let's admit we don't have all the answers: "For now we see only a reflection as in a mirror; then we shall see face to face. Now I know in part; then I shall know fully, even as I am fully known" (1 Corinthians 13:12).

Fifth, let's remember that God is 100% good: Even if we don't understand why God allows evil, we know that God didn't create evil and He hates it more than we do. We can trust Him with our unanswered questions.

Sixth, let's ask ourselves what we're doing to stop evil: If we're honestly concerned about evil, we'll deal with evil in ourselves by trusting Christ and letting Him transform us (Romans 12:1-2). This won't answer all of our questions about evil, but it will give us comfort in our suffering so we can help others (2 Corinthians 1:3-5).

Bible Love Notes

  1. Great series!
A lot to ponder and learn.

    1. Thanks, Christine.
I'm glad these Be Prepared devotions are helpful.
      Gail : )

  2. Your timing is purely from God.
These times that we are in as Christian we must remind ourselves of the scripture.
Thank you so very much for sharing and being a vessel from God.

  3. Why doesn't God stop the terrible evil in our world? I would believe the answer is found in 1 Chronicles 7:14:
If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.

    1. Because everyone have Free Will. God will not take away not one person free will, no matter what they have in their heart. He won't stop Covid and no other types of adverser effects that goes on in this universe. From the Creation God knew where and every act perpetrated against children of God. To stop one person free will is to stop another person free will period...

  4. hi, i believe we're near the great tribulation period. this covid situation put us near the end with the government trying to take over. i also believe the so-called vaccines are a prelude of the coming mark of the beast. i believe we are being warned what's coming. but us christian's will be raptured when everything falls down.

    1. Hi Rose,
I agree with you that we are facing greater persecution, but I don't agree with your view of Covid or vaccines. The Bible makes it very, very clear that the Mark of the Beast is not something we can get accidentally or by force. It will be a choice. Satan cannot steal our salvation by placing a mark on us. We must choose to follow Satan.

We need to heed Isaiah 8:12 which says, "Do not call conspiracy everything this people calls a conspiracy; do not fear what they fear, and do not dread it."

    2. And... God said to go on, you can't change not a thing. Relent and seek a personal relationship with God. Every prophecy in Revelations will come to pass before the second coming. You can't pick and choose what and who you obey. And in my Father's house I plan on being there someday. The world has been ending since before my great grAndmother was born, and really the world has been ending since Jesus the Christ was reborn and ascended to his throne. Stay Viligent and diligent. Make sure your own home is aware of this world today. Trust and believe when the rapture comes I'm going among the first wave. And as for everyone else, life is a solitary journey. And God will take care of his own, and then there are the other ones👍🏽
