The Relevance of God's Word

God's Word is always relevant. 2 Cor.4 offers 6 Ways to Shine in our dark world.

The more I study Scripture, the more I appreciate its timeless relevance.

2 Corinthians 4:1-6 is a perfect example—great instruction for "shining" in the midst of the compromise and false teachings of our times.

1. Be encouraged in the Lord! (1)

“Therefore, since through God’s mercy we have this ministry, we do not lose heart.” ~ verse 1

2. Maintain pure motives. (2)

“We have renounced secret and shameful ways...”  ~ verse 2

3. Share Scripture accurately. (3)

We do not use deception, nor do we distort the word of God.” ~ verse 2

4. Understand the opposition.

“If our gospel is veiled, it is veiled to those who are perishing. The god of this age has blinded the minds of unbelievers, so that they cannot see the light of the gospel...” ~ verses 3-4

5. Promote Christ. (4)

“What we preach is not ourselves, but Jesus Christ as Lord...” ~ verse 5

6. Shine His light. (5)

“God, who said, Let light shine out of darkness, made his light shine in our hearts to give us the light of the knowledge of God’s glory displayed in the face of Christ.”  ~ verse 6

Let's find comfort and guidance in this passage, dear Christians. And let's keep shining for the Lord!

(4) Promoting Christ means promoting the whole gospel, Not Just the Easy Parts. Christ inspired the whole gospel, not simply the "red letter" quotes in Scripture. See To Trust Christ's Words, You Must Trust the Whole Bible.
(5) See Matthew 5:14-15.
