Biblical Battle Strategy
Scripture commands Christians to be alert and prepared for our battle against the evil powers of this world (1 Peter 5:8; Ephesians 6:12).
Every day, sinful desires battle for our souls (1 Peter 2:11; 1 John 2:16).
That's why we put on the full armor of God (Ephesians 6:10-18):
1. We buckle on the belt of truth to secure our freedom in Christ (John 8:32).
2. We put on the breastplate of righteousness to guard our hearts (Proverbs 4:23).
3. We slip on shoes designed for godly footpaths (Ephesians 2:10).
4. We hold tightly to the shield of faith which gives us confidence to resist Satan's attacks and assurance we will win (Hebrews 11:1).
5. We put on the helmet of salvation to safeguard our thoughts (2 Corinthians 2:16; 2 Corinthians 10:5).
6. We use the sword of God's Word to attack and destroy error (Hebrews 4:12).
We often talk about the full armor of God, but I challenge you to think through each item, and make sure you're putting it on daily.

ReplyDeleteEvery day is a spiritual battle. A blessing, and a chance to choose to follow God. Thanks for this post. I needed the wisdom and truth from it today!
ReplyDeleteA Good teaching! I truly enjoy your teachings and find them so helpful in my everyday life in Christ.
ReplyDeleteI would like to include a thought if you don't mind. Many people leave out this important part of our instructions that are included in the description of our armor. Ephesians 6:18 "And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the Lord’s people." Because this passage begins with the word "And" I see it as a continuation of the previous verse, passage, thought, instruction. So, when I am making sure I'm wearing my full armor of God, I believe this must be included.
