The Romans Steps

Romans 5:1-5 offers some interesting "steps" to Christian maturity. This 1-minute devotion explains. #BibleLoveNotes #Bible

You’ve probably heard of the Romans Road,(1) but have you heard of “the Romans steps”?(2)

“We also glory in our sufferings, because we know that suffering produces perseverance; perseverance, character; and character, hope. And hope does not put us to shame, because God’s love has been poured out into our hearts through the Holy Spirit, who has been given to us.”  Romans 5:1-5

                      Step 4. Hope
               Step 3. Character
      Step 2. Perseverance
Step 1. Suffering

Step 1. Suffering, tribulations, hardships, distresses, pressures, and troubles come to all of us (James 1:2-4).

Step 2. Persevering is hard, but we can do it if we hold tightly to the Romans 8:28 handrail that promises good will come from hardships.

Step 3. This step to greater maturity and strength of character always follows faithful perseverance (James 5:11).

Step 4. Mature character takes us to new heights in our faith, giving us greater hope in Christ (Isaiah 40:31).

Dear Christian, if you're sitting in your sorrows at the bottom of the stairs, stand up and climb!

  1. Suffering fr a long word for arthritis in my spine, arthritis
in my knees, chronic migraines, and the fibromonster, I love this posting. Your graphic make the step names easy to recall.

Once again, God sent me into another direction in my studies today, instead of in the chapter I'd picked. Thx for being His instrument!
