Behind-the-Scene Prayer Warriors

Don't underestimate these behind-the-scene prayer warriors. This 1-minute devotion shares one of their stories. #BibleLoveNotes #Bible

She wasn’t fashionable or famous.
 She wasn’t wealthy or well-known.

But there will be a special place in heaven for simple farm wives like my Grandma Burton.

Her life was marked with enormous challenges: the loss of a child, the loss of their farm during the Kansas dustbowl, the death of her husband (my grandfather) at age 45 leaving her to raise their 6 children alone without much income.

But she was always praying, talking about the Lord, and helping people. And her well-worn Bible (which I inherited) was always close at hand.

Perhaps when I get to heaven, Jesus will open my eyes to the many lives she touched through her prayers and witness. And while I'm aware of many ways she blessed my life, I imagine there are far more than I realize.

Dear Christian, if you are praying, your role in life is significant.

Don’t compare yourself to others. Realize that great work is done in the prayer closets of quiet, unknown Christians - praying mothers, fathers, grandparents, sisters, brothers, aunts, uncles, sons, daughters, neighbors, friends.

Colossians 4:2: Devote yourselves to prayer, being watchful and thankful.

James 5:16: The prayer of a righteous person is powerful and effective.

Philippians 4:6: Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.

1 Thessalonians 5:17: Never stop praying.

  1. Thank you very very much! I go back and forth knowing, since that's all I can do (disability), it's 'all good' and thinking 'I'm not very good because I can't do 'this' like her or him. Thanks again!!! I need to plaster this to my forehead!!

  2. I once heard a speaker say(forgive me, I cannot remember who it was) "There are no 'justas' in Heaven. {I'm just a mom, I'm just a truck driver, I'm just a kid, etc.} We need to stop discounting His Work, His creation.
