Being Christ-Followers in a Sexually Immoral Culture

When morals decline, Genuine believers remain Salt and Light. This 1-minute devotion explains.

A recent survey (source), showed 34% of singles (48% of Millennials) have sex with people they haven't even dated.

In contrast, this survey discovered singles are quite picky about a person's cell phone use.

How did we get to the point where we're discriminating about cell phones but careless about sexual intimacy?

Scripture tells us we live in a devolving culture. Without God, mankind spirals down into immorality and stupidity (Romans 1:18-32).

Some professing Christians join in this devolution. When teaching at Christian colleges and Bible-belt churches, marriage counselor, Joe Beam finds Christians who readily admit to multiple sex partners and the use of pornography (source).

Fortunately, there are still Christians who trust Biblical principles, practicing self-control and purity. These Believers serve an important role of being light and salt in a dark and decaying culture (Matthew 5:13-16).

Let me give a shout out to those of you who maintain Biblical morals, whatever your age and stage of life.

Let us not grow weary in doing good (Galatians 6:9).

  1. "... quite picky about the kind of cell phones their dates use...." You must be kidding? Anyway, good post, good food for thought as the world keeps turning.

  2. So very sad. We heard that of all marriages I believe the figure was 60% of all spouses were unfaithful. All due to easily available online sex. I don't have a clue and don't want to know either. My husband who is still in techno dark ages said, "If you dont know how to use a computer or smart phone, you don't have a worry."

    Shocking but sad, true post.

  3. I'm 18 and i must say being a christian in a morally declining world is a war each day but i'm reaching there. I figured out an easier way is to always have a passage about sexual immorality and sorts in addition to your regular quiet times.

  4. That sounds like a great way to keep focused on God's loving commands, Maryamu.
May you continue to walk in His strength.

  5. It's can be tough being a Christian in such an age of such godlessness. I'm thankful that I married a woman who fears God as much as I do. I'm also glad I married young (23) and never looked back.

    1. No, Moses, it's not just you. Entertainment is definitely getting increasingly immoral.
