The Color Scarlet

Rahab's story has so many layers. Don't miss this important truth! It will encourage you!!

The prostitute Rahab was instructed to tie a scarlet cord in her window to signify she had chosen to side with God's children against her pagan city (Joshua 2:17-21).

It's no coincidence that our sins are described as "scarlet."

“Come now, let us reason together,” says the LORD. “Though your sins are like scarlet, they shall be as white as snow." Isaiah 1:18

Rahab's cord was symbolic of her commitment to repent of her sins and turn from her pagan lifestyle to become one of God's children. She made a clear profession of her faith when she hid the spies (Joshua 2).

The blood of Christ was also scarlet, not because of His sin (for He had none) but because of your sins and mine. And when it flowed, it represented a scarlet cord than anyone could claim - a symbol of our repentance from sin and acceptance of Christ (1 Corinthians 11:23-29).

Whenever you see the color scarlet remember it's significance in the Gospel message.

    1. Hi Joseph,

Have you asked Jesus to be your Lord and Savior? If you have not done this, this is the first important step in overcoming this pattern of sexual sin in your life.

Please find a Bible-believing church and talk to a pastor about making Christ your Lord. This is not only your hope for overcoming sin. It is also your only hope to go to heaven instead of hell when you die.

I pray that you will make Christ your Lord and depend fully on His strength to stop sinning.

Please find a godly Christian man who will pray with you and keep you accountable and avoid all situations that put you into temptation.

And I encourage you to memorize Scriptures that apply to your situation. For example: 1 Corinthians 6:18-20 and Philippians 4:13.

      And remember 1 John 3:6:

"No one who lives in him keeps on sinning. No one who continues to sin has either seen him or known him."

You must deal wholeheartedly with this sin pattern in your life.

    2. Being all you can be in JESUS CHRIST we have to have a heart set of pleasing HIM. Even if this means burning some bridges behind us.
