How Our Attention Span Affects Our Prayer Life

Bible, Quiet Time, Attention spans
Television can be harmful to our spiritual growth...

Did you know that Television viewing lowers our attention spans? TV entertains us with constant, fast-paced changes that require no more than a few seconds of concentration at a time. According to one study, “in a typical hour…viewers’ attention is forced to shift over eight hundred times.”(1)

Television also “promotes a spectator mentality”(1), requiring no imagination or critical thinking skills.

This may be one reason that we have trouble concentrating on God’s Word and prayer, and one reason we have trouble discerning right from wrong.

Romans 12:2,3 (NLT) says: "Don’t copy the behavior and customs of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think. Then you will know what God wants you to do."

We need daily doses of God’s Love Notes. Will you join me today as I pray to be more diligent to “transform and renew” my mind in God’s Word?
