6 Attitudes of the World that Salty Christians Avoid

Ephesians 4 describes 6 things that Christians should never do. This 1-minute devotion explains.

Have you ever met a stranger and immediately known she was a believer? There was just something about her actions, attitudes, and language that set her apart.

Conversely, have you ever known someone for months and been shocked to discover she was a believer because of her actions, attitudes, and language?

Ephesians 4:17-19 says people of the world:
1. Have their minds on worthless things.
2. Can't understand spiritual things.
3. Refuse to believe God out of ignorance and stubbornness.
4. Have no sense of shame.
5. Are sexually promiscuous.
6. Never get enough of sin.

Christians are different. We are called to be salt and light in our dark, decaying world (Matthew 5:13-16).

1. Our minds should be focused on the things of God.

2. We should be seeking to better understand God's Word.

3. We should be growing in our faith.

4. We should be seeking purity and holiness.

5. We should be obeying God's loving commands regarding sex.

6. We should hate sin as much as God does.

Today I'm asking God's help to "press on to take hold of that for which Christ Jesus took hold of me." Will you join me so we can all "live up to what we have already attained" (Philippians 3:12-17)?

  2. Exactly what the Lord has been teaching me, Gail. We are to "walk in wisdom toward those who are outside" (Col. 4:5-6). When our hearts are revived - when we get a fresh awareness of God's presence - it will affect our behavior, and even unbelievers will take notice. One of my favorite college-days quotes was: "The world waits for a daily demonstration of the Christ who lives in you!" (I have that quote on my desk today.) Thanks for this post.
