4 Times Christians Should Judge

Despite the popular "Judge Not" belief, there are 4 times when Christians should judge.

It's never popular to use the "J" word.

Even non-Christians like reciting "Judge not!"

But there are 4 times to judge:

1. Personal examination:
"Examine yourselves to see whether you are in the faith; test yourselves" (2 Corinthians 13:5).

2. Helping deceived Christians:
"If someone is caught in a sin, you who live by the Spirit should restore that person gently" (Galatians 6:1).

3. Judging false teachers and false beliefs:
"Watch out for false prophets ... A good tree cannot bear bad fruit...Thus, by their fruit you will recognize them" (Matthew 7:15-20).

4. Exposing evil:
"Have nothing to do with the fruitless deeds of darkness, but rather expose them" (Ephesians 5:8-17).

Let's avoid hypocritical judgment, but embrace biblical judgment which gives us discernment, protects us from error, and qualifies us to help others.

The criticizing type of Judgment is not what we should be doing.

    1. Yes, Hazel. When we judge for no purpose except to criticize or gossip, we are not judging Biblically.

    2. We christians are good putting everything in one box. Music is one of them. Not all music we are listening is evil. I can even tell you that if i listen to a love song i can hear God speaking to me. And its not even a Christian song.

  5. Why is it everytime you try to counsel someone on how to have a closer walk with God they immediately and wrongly quote about not judging? Great article. Thank you.
