"I know the great value and importance of spending time alone with God in His Word and prayer each day--I've written a book on the subject. But far too often I find myself turning my attention to the details and tasks of the day without first taking adequate time to 'inquire of the Lord.'"
Surprisingly, many Christians consider their quiet time a low priority.
I know that I need time with God each day, but I don't always live that way.
Sometimes I rush through my quiet time as if I have more important things to do. Sometimes I worry instead of praying. Sometimes I share a problem with a friend but not with the Lord. I often forget to thank the Lord for a blessing.
If you are like me and sometimes have these inconsistencies in your faith, join me today and memorize this short verse: "the Kingdom of God is not just a lot of talk; it is living by God’s power" (1 Corinthians 4:20, NLT).

Bible Love Notes
Oh, this is so true.
ReplyDeleteI should never be in such a hurry that God is left out or an after thought.
Yes, Christine. So true. We just can't emphasize our relationship with Jesus enough, can we?
DeleteThanks for sharing.
Gail
Gail, Thank you for the taking the time to comment on my post. I agree Number 13:33 would have fit beautifully too. Looked back at your reference and love how God encouraged me through it. We are heading to a new area and must remember our size in Christ when we encounter the giants.
ReplyDeleteAmen, Anna! Thanks for stopping by.

Gail,
ReplyDeleteSurely God is speaking to me regarding my quiet time with him. All of the posts I have read today have spoken about this very subject. I hate to admit it but at times I live this way as well. Thank you so very much for sharing this and helping us to refocus once again.
Be blessed my sister in Christ.
Isn't it good the way God reminds us to spend time with Him?
DeleteI pray we both will respond to His reminders.

I, too, am guilty of this~ what a great reminder and exhortation anytime. It is a good check-up for us all! Love and appreciate you, Gail!
ReplyDeleteAnother one here who can be guilty of this Gail. Thank you for a very timely reminder.. Many thanks for your inspiration and time...
ReplyDeleteI will loudly praise the day when we Praise our Lord as often as we " check our phones". How I Love my God and Father, Praise & give thanks for my Savior & King for his Gift to each & everyone of us & forever thankful & aware of the Holy Spirit inside of me leading me, encouragingly & Comforting me All the time. Thank You, Father for this gift of technology, but Stop us from using this ABOVE being in a close relationship with you.
ReplyDeleteThank you for the reminder, God should always be first. Any time I have to prostanite on my quiet time I may not get to do at when I'm out or not do it properly.
ReplyDeleteThank you for sharing this timely word. I got up this morning thinking that I have too much to do today to spend an hour in His word. But I am only spinning my wheels and going nowhere so I will back up and spend that hour in His word. Because I truly depend on Him for my health and success.
ReplyDeleteLingering in my email for days and at 2:09 am I decided to read and found this is describing me right now and how I need to stop and grow,
ReplyDeleteThank you.
I am blessed to know that God used it to encourage you to press on and seek Him more fully!
