"Due to its worldwide popularity, coffee is probably the greatest source of antioxidants in the global diet.... it may just be the super-food of the century."(1)
According to numerous studies, coffee:
1. Lowers the risk of death.
2. Helps prevent some cancers.
3. Lowers susceptibility to type 2 diabetes.
4. Helps protect the brain from dementia.
5. Stimulates DNA molecules in muscles with effects similar to exercise.
I was thinking about the pleasure of a cup of coffee and the pleasure of reading the Bible. So I decided to write a similar list for the Scripture.
God's Word:
1. Lowers our risk of eternal death (Romans 1:16).
2. Helps prevent "spiritual cancers" like bitterness (Hebrews 12:15).
3. Lowers our susceptibility to "spiritual diabetes" by keeping us from feeding on sugar-coated truth (2 Timothy 3:16-17).
4. Protects and renews our minds (Romans 12:2). And the Bible can help with brain health as well.
5. Stimulates our spiritual DNA, exercising and building our faith (Romans 10:17).
Yep! The Bible is my "cuppa joy" and that's better than my morning cuppa joe!
