Let's Encourage Each Other as Described in Scripture!

Ephesians and Colossians contain similar passages about ways to encourage our fellow believers.

We’re facing difficult times, dear Christians. Our beliefs are being attacked, redefined, and misunderstood. More than ever, we need to be encouraging each other so we can stand firm.

Scripture offers this advice:

Do not get drunk on wine, which leads to debauchery. Instead, be filled with the Spirit, speaking to one another with psalms, hymns, and songs from the Spirit. Sing and make music from your ❤ heart to the Lord, always giving thanks to God the Father for everything, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ. Ephesians 5:18-20

We need to be talking about the wisdom from God’s Word and encouraging each other with praise and worship.

I love the phrase “make music from your heart to the Lord.”

Have you ever sung worship songs with your mind somewhere else? I have, and it’s a huge contrast with the times I've worshiped with my ❤ heart engaged.

The verse below adds some additional thoughts:

“Let the message of Christ dwell among you richly as you teach and admonish one another with all wisdom through psalms, hymns, and songs from the Spirit, singing to God with gratitude in your hearts.” Colossians 3:16

When we have God’s Word dwelling in our hearts, we can remind each other of God's wisdom and share ways it's helping us to stand firm.

So let's consider ways we can apply these principles in our relationships with our brothers and sisters in Christ.

I love that the verses in this devotion talk about reciting Psalms since I’ve just published a book with devotions from Psalms and Proverbs (Wisdom for Life). I’ve always loved the Psalms, but writing about them gave me an even deeper appreciation. Dear readers, if you've purchased my book and you're enjoying it, would you please leave a review on Amazon or the site where you purchased it? Thanks!! ~ Gail
