Romans 1 Tells Us that Darkened Thinking Always Leads to Sexual Sin

Romans 1:16-32 tells us where moral decline begins and where it goes from there. Be aware of these important truths.

Romans 1:16-32 talks about moral decline which begins when people “suppress the truth by their wickedness.”
They deny God's truth so they can feel comfortable in their sins.

“Therefore God gave them over in the sinful desires of their hearts to sexual impurity for the degrading of their bodies with one another. They exchanged the truth about God for a lie, and worshiped and served created things rather than the Creator—who is forever praised. Amen.” Romans 1:24-25

In previous verses, Paul talked about worshiping creation, and he mentions it again because sexual sins exalt human feelings above God's creation design for marriage. And sexual sins harm us in ways that other sins do not:

“Flee from sexual immorality. All other sins a person commits are outside the body, but whoever sins sexually, sins against their own body.” 1 Corinthians 6:18

Satan promotes sexual sins “to steal and kill and destroy” the abundant life God wants to give us (John 10:10).

If you have excused premarital sex, pornography, or adultery in your life or the lives of others, please repent. Your approval of sexual sins will lead you into deeper darkness (1 John 1:8-10).

When we show our trust in God's commands for sexual purity, we proclaim that we're not ashamed of the gospel! (Romans 1:16)

We'll be talking more about sexual sins in the Romans 1:16-32 series, specifically about "unnatural" sexual sins.

For more confirmation about God's loving commands about sexual purity see: Two Steps to Sexual Sin, which explains that sexual sin never simply happens in the heat of the moment. And see Sexual Sin Is Serious, which talks about a pregnant teen's "mistake." And I also recommend you read the 1-minute devotion Thou Shalt Not—Maybe.
