The fear of the Lord is a healthy fear that Christians have because we understand the incredible power, justice, love, and mercy of our Lord. If you haven't read the other devotions in this series, please see The Many Aspects of Fearing God.
And today, please read through these verses that explain the many benefits of being a God-fearer. Even better, read through them aloud with a grateful heart!
Psalm 145:19: "He fulfills the desires of those who fear him; he hears their cry and saves them."
Psalm 31:19: "How abundant are the good things that you have stored up for those who
fear you, that you bestow in the sight of all, on those who take refuge
in you."
Psalm 34:7-11: "The angel of the LORD encamps around those who fear him, and he delivers them. Taste and see that the LORD is good; blessed is the one who takes refuge in him. Fear the LORD, you his holy people, for those who fear him lack nothing. The lions may grow weak and hungry, but those who seek the LORD lack no good thing. Come, my children, listen to me; I will teach you the fear of the LORD."
Psalm 115:11: "All you who fear the LORD, trust the LORD! He is your helper and your shield."
Psalm 147:10-11: "His pleasure is not in the strength of the horse, nor his delight in
the legs of the warrior; the LORD delights in those who fear him, who
put their hope in his unfailing love."
Psalm 103:13: "As a father has compassion on his children, so the LORD has compassion on those who fear him."
Psalm 25:14: "The LORD confides in those who fear him; he makes his covenant known to them."
Psalm 34:9: "Fear the LORD, you his holy people, for those who fear him lack nothing."
Proverbs 14:26-27: "Whoever fears the Lord has a secure fortress, and for their children
it will be a refuge. The fear of the Lord is a fountain of life, turning
a person from the snares of death."
Proverbs 15:16: "Better to have little, with fear for the LORD, than to have great treasure and inner turmoil."
Proverbs 19:23: "The fear of the LORD leads to life; then one rests content, untouched by trouble."
Proverbs 31:30: "Charm is deceptive, and beauty is fleeting; but a woman who fears the LORD is to be praised."
