3 Lies that Deceive Us

These 3 lies are incredibly popular and incredibly wrong! This 1-minute devotion explains.

Let’s examine some lies that are overtaking the minds of many people, even Christians.

1. Truth is based on feelings.

This is presented in a number of ways:
⮚ "Follow your feelings."
⮚ "Follow your heart."
⮚ "If it feels right, do it."
⮚ "If it makes me feel good, it can't be wrong."

Christians know that feelings are not reliable (Proverbs 3:5). That's why we check everything against the Word of God.

2. Love = approval.

It's popular to call Christians "haters" simply because we don't affirm certain sexual lifestyles, not because we've done anything unkind or hateful. Caring about people does not require agreeing with their lifestyle and beliefs. If we change our beliefs to please a friend or family member, we are choosing man over God (Galatians 1:10).

3. You can be anything you want to be.

No. We all have different skill sets, different levels of intelligence, different capabilities, and different opportunities. God has given each of us purposes and limitations (Ephesians 2:10; 2 Corinthians 10:12-18).

These popular sayings are misleading. They come from human wisdom, not God's wisdom (Colossians 2:8). If we believe them, they will lead us away from God's purposes.

  1. Gai, this is an awesome devotion! NAILED IT! I might one more: "There are many ways to heaven" - I am finding that many are buying into this lie - even some of the Christian faith. Thanks for sharing! <><
