More Than Words

The story of the Ethiopian eunuch in Acts 8 reveals a wonderful truth about genuine conversion. This 1-minute devotion explains.

When Philip evangelized the Ethiopian eunuch in Acts 8:26-39, God revealed 7 Wonderful Truths.

Truth #6: Genuine conversion is more than mere words.

Within minutes of understanding the gospel, the Ethiopian saw a body of water and said, “Look, here is water. What can stand in the way of my being baptized?” (Acts 8:36

God's Spirit filled the eunuch's heart with confident belief in the gospel. Philip didn't have to beg him to be baptized.

On the day of Pentecost in Acts 2, the Jews were cut to the heart and said to Peter and the other apostles, 'Brothers, what shall we do?'” (v. 37)

God's Spirit convicted these men that Jesus was their long-awaited Messiah, and they wanted to follow Him.

In Acts 10, Cornelius' household received the Holy Spirit while Peter was still speaking.

God's Spirit assured these Gentiles that they were welcome in the family of God, and their response was immediate.

Christians aren't brainwashed or pressured. We believe because God's Spirit leads us into truth (John 16:7-15).

The gospel comes not simply with words but also with power, with the Holy Spirit and deep conviction (1 Thessalonians 1:4-5).

For the kingdom of God is not a matter of talk but of power.1 Corinthians 4:20
