Heart, Soul, Mind, and Strength

4 Aspects of Genuine Love for God

Jesus said the greatest commandment is to “love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength” (Mark 12:30).

While heart, soul, mind, and strength are overlapping elements of our being, we can draw some understanding from each one.

♥ With all our Hearts – Loving God with affection and gratitude, as a child admires, loves, trusts, and depends on his godly parents.
Luke 12:32 and 1 John 3:1.

With all our Souls – Embracing God fervently, aware that we owe Him our lives and every gift He gives us is undeserved.
Romans 12:1 and Philippians 3:12-14.

With all our Minds – Letting God's Word renew our minds so we understand His thoughts and desires for our lives.
Philippians 1:9-11 and 2 Timothy 2:15 and Romans 12:2.

With all our Strength – Consistently acting on God's Word and depending on His strength and power, not our own.
1 Corinthians 4:20 and Philippians 4:13 and James 1:22.

Let’s love our God with all our hearts, souls, minds, and strength and embrace His purposes each day (Ephesians 2:10)!
