Trophy Wife Christians

You've heard of "Trophy Wives." Have you ever heard of "Trophy Wife Christians"? This 1-minute devotion explains. #BibleLoveNotes #Bible

We’ve all heard of “trophy wives” –young, attractive women who marry older wealthy men. Sometimes they may be genuinely in love. But most of the time, the woman loves her husband's money and he loves the status she gives him.

So what’s my point?

I think we sometimes think of ourselves as God’s trophy wives – we love the blessings He bestows on us and forget the meaning of love. That’s why so many "faith movements" insist God owes us health and prosperity. That’s why some people fall away when they don't get what they want from God.

I’ve drifted into this mentality at times, thinking God owes me smooth sailing.

But genuine faith movements are made up of people insisting God has already given us more than we deserve.

As the bride of Christ (2 Corinthians 11:21), we love God for Who He is and what He has already done for us on the cross, not for earthly blessings (1 John 3:1).

    1. That's wonderful to hear, Judy. Unfortunately, in the U.S. and other countries where I've lived, I've run into quite a few of these type Christians who aren't interested in living for the Lord only in receiving His blessings.
