Life Expectancy and Ephesians 2:10

American life expectancy is 78.2 years.

My mother died when she was 66.

I’ve been thinking about this lately—not at all in a morbid way—but just thinking about it because I turned 60 this year. (2011)

We don’t know how long we have, and it’s good to occasionally think about the legacy we’ll leave behind. We all hope we'll “finish well.”

Life expectancy, Ephesians 2:10, living each day in God's purposesGod planned things for me to do in my lifetime, things for me to do this year, this month, even this day. The same is true for you.

“For we are God’s masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so that we can do the good things he planned for us long ago.” Ephesians 2:10 (NLT)

The best legacy we can leave behind is one of obedience to God's purposes. Let's ask God each day what purpose He has for us.
