The Shepherd Knew. The Giant Didn't.

David knew something that Goliath didn't know and that was the key in David's victory. Do you know what David knew?

In 1 Samuel 17, when David faced Goliath, he was a shepherd, not a warrior. He knew how to use a slingshot, not weapons of battle. In fact, he couldn't even handle the weight of adult armor.

Goliath looked at David and saw an easy victory. But David knew something Goliath didn't know. He knew the battle wasn't dependent on his strength or skill.

David didn't make a single boast about himself. Instead, he announced to God's enemy, “You come against me with sword and spear and javelin, but I come against you in the name of the Lord Almighty" (1 Samuel 17:45-47).

I've had several situations in my life where I stood face to face with a Goliath problem. Sometimes I've tried defeating the problem on my own and I've failed miserably.

My victories have only come when I've followed David's lead, letting God use my humble skills for His purposes (Ephesians 2:10).

Are you facing a giant? Remember the source of your strength:

💙 “I can do all this through him who gives me strength.” Philippians 4:13

💙 “Do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.” Isaiah 41:10

💙 “Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power.” Ephesians 6:10

💙 “The Lord is my strength and my shield; my heart trusts in him, and he helps me. My heart leaps for joy, and with my song I praise him.” Psalm 28:7

  3. You've heard the maxim, "Less is more". That's how I feel about your writing. You get your point across and tell truth in a short message. You live up to your promise, "an espresso shot of Scripture". There's a lot of "meat" in the "shot".
