I Hit the Back Space

I hit the "back space" and sinned. What could I do? The Apostle Paul instructed me in God's Word. #BibleLoveNotes #Devotions

Recently I spoke without thinking, and my words were sanctimonious.

I apologized, but I was still disappointed in myself.

I should have known better since I get self-righteous comments on my blog posts from time to time.

This thought from A.W. Tozer helped:
"A man's true character is the average of his life, not the extremes. David reached the top when he slew Goliath and the bottom when he slew Uriah...We should not be too much elated over a victory nor too much discouraged over a defeat. God reckons the average and will evaluate us accordingly."

My sanctimonious words were a step backward, but I'm determined to learn from my mistakes.

Like Paul I can say:
"Not that I have already obtained all this ... but I press on to take hold of that for which Christ Jesus took hold of me... Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead." Philippians 3:12-13

  1. Gail,
You may have misspoken in your example, but you haven't misspoken here. Home run. I needed to be reminded of this today. In Christ, the only thing we have to get 100% right is where we've placed our trust--squarely on him and what he's done for us. And even that God gives us by faith. I know your post will encourage many today.
