Prompted to Pray

Jude 20, praying in the Holy Spirit, prompted to pray
"Is everything okay with little Scooter Pie?" I asked my daughter.

"Yes, why?"

"Well, last night before bed, I had the strongest prompting to pray for her."

My five-year-old granddaughter was with her siblings at their other grandma's house, and only later did we discover that she'd been bitten by fire ants and refused to let anyone treat her. Her hand had gotten badly swollen, and that's why I believe God prompted me to pray.

I'm not always sensitive to God's Spirit, but I imagine these promptings happen more than we realize.

We may think we choose to pray for someone or something on our own when it's actually God's Spirit prompting us.

It's an aspect of "praying in the Holy Spirit" (Jude 20), and it's a good reason to pause and ask God to direct our prayers.

If you've had a similar prompting, why not share it in the comment section and let all of us be blessed. And if you'd like to do a very short Bite Size study about this subject, check it out HERE.

  1. Beautiful post. I've been prompted to pray and had others prompted to pray for me, as well. I also believe there are times when we are called to intercede and we never find out for whom or why, but God knows.
