God Is A Majority of One - Human Majorities Can Often Be Wrong

  • A majority of doctors once rejected the notion that they should wash their hands between examinations of diseased patients.
  • A majority of Americans once approved slavery.
The majority are often wrong, and in these cases, tragically so.

But nowhere is majority opinion more tragic than in regard to spiritual things.

The majority of our world is perishing, but they exercise great influence over public opinion. We must be extremely cautious to get our views from the Bible, not culture.

Living for Christ has never been popular. "For we are to God the pleasing aroma of Christ among those who are being saved and those who are perishing. To the one we are an aroma that brings death; to the other, an aroma that brings life." (2 Corinthians 2:15-16)

Dear Christian friends, we have judged many things by majority opinion. We have changed our morals and goals in life to fit what is popular. We must return to the narrow road (Matthew 7:13-14).

Today I'm asking God to help me trust the minority of One (God). Will you join me?

  1. Gail, It is amazing where popular opinion takes us sometimes, isn't it? That' why we are supposed to follow just One. I loved this. Kim

    1. Yes, Kim, it is amazing. And it is so easy to get caught up in it if we aren't careful.

  2. Gail,
Thanks for this insightful post. Even if popular opinion at times seems right, we must be cautious and examine all things in the light of scripture. Proverbs 14:12 comes to mind.

I'm enjoying your blog so much.
