Have You Met a Perfect Person?

A single question refutes the false belief of reincarnation. This 1-minute devotion explains.

“I like the idea of reincarnation,” the woman said. “You get to keep coming back until you’re perfect.”(1)

“And have you ever met anyone who was perfect?” asked April politely.

This was part of a conversation that my mentoring group had with a woman on the University of SC campus several years ago. I was surprised by the wisdom in April’s question. I always learned so much from the women I mentored.

April’s question was such a perfect way of pointing out an inconsistency in reincarnation.

All false faiths eventually break down because they're devised by man, not God.

Christianity is far more complex than false faiths, but it passes the test of time and logic.

Actually, the complexity of Christianity proves it comes from a God far wiser and more complex than men.

"Has not God made foolish the wisdom of the world?" 1 Corinthians 1:20
(See also Romans 11:33-36.)

Today I'm thanking God for His truth that endures forever (Psalm 117).

(1) From a Hindu site: "According to Hinduism, a soul reincarnates again and again on earth until it becomes perfect and reunites with it Source. During this process the soul enters into many bodies, assumes many forms and passes through many births and deaths....According to Hinduism, a being has to live many lives and under go many experiences before it attains perfection and becomes one with the Divine."

Note: This Scripture clearly refutes reincarnation: Hebrews 9:26-28. See also: 3 Reasons Reincarnation is Not Compatible with Christianity

  1. Wow Gail! Great devotion! Thanks for thinking of me. I don't remember saying that at all! It's amazing how the Lord prompts us to say things that we don't even realize are touching people's lives :) It's funny, I was just thinking about you & our little group & what blessing it was this weekend.....Miss & Wendy & I got together for a girls weekend & we're reminiscing our CIU days. I hope you are well & Have a very Merry Christmas!
    Much joy,
    April

  4. Thanks so much for your explanation of this. Our nephew was killed in March here in Australia in a 'Workplace Incident'. Unfortunately his Workplace did not follow the Safety guidelines that is lawful in Australia.
His widow and they have young children; her family has 'New Age'/ Catholic belief, a mix of both. Our niece in law, if that is the right name, asked me a few days ago about what we, my husband and I, believe as Christians about reincarnation.
I told her we go to be with God and are reunited with those who have died before us in 'Heaven'. Our nephew was from a Christian background.
He was killed instantly in a trench collapse in the state of Victoria, Australia. His young apprentice was buried up to his neck. Both were not found for possibly 2 hours.
The young man died the next day from the results of his 'Crush injuries', despite being rushed to the city of Melbourne for emergency surgery.
This young man's family are distraught and with our nephew's young widow; they are all striving to see chages in the Industrial workplace legislation.
This beautiful corageous young woman is 'Spiritual ', she describes herself and recognizes that my husbsnd and I and her also early widowed Mother in Law as Christians are 'Spiritual'.
Hence her question about Reincarnation. She also asked 'Where do we come from before we are born?
I replied that we come from God, remembering the Psalm that says that God knew us and formed us in our mother's womb before we were born. It is only now that I remember where that quote is from. Psalm 139 I think.
I need to send her or quote that Psalm address so our niece in law can be assured. - Jayne, Perth, Western Australia.

    1. Evan,
I'm so sorry about your nephew, and I pray that the questions this young woman is asking will lead her to the Lord. I'm sure it's not accident that God has you there to help answer her questions. May God give you wisdom.
