No Regrets?

Scripture emphasizes genuine repentance, but few people understand what this means. This 1-minute devotion explains. #BibleLoveNotes #Bible

“I’m sorry if I did anything to bother you.”

“I’m sorry I let you down, but your expectations are too high for me.”

“I’m sorry, but what you did is worse.”

Even though each of these sentences begins with “I’m sorry,” none is an apology.

After the first sin, Eve blamed the serpent, Adam blamed Eve, and Adam even blamed God for giving him Eve (Genesis 3:8-13)!

From that time forward, we humans have had difficulty with sincere repentance.

But sincere repentance, sincere regret, and sincere apologies are critical to our spiritual well-being.

Do you realize that Christ’s main message was “Repent!” (Matthew 4:17)?

Repentance is essential for salvation: If we don’t know we’re sinners, we don’t think we need a Savior.

It's also essential for healthy relationships with others and with God (1 John 1:8-10).

"If I had not confessed the sin in my heart, the Lord would not have listened." Psalm 66:18

I'm so thankful that God can free us from the "blame-game" and give us the freedom of genuine repentance.

Let’s take time today to sincerely repent of our sins toward God and others.
