We Serve a God of Adventure

Christ gives us a command in Luke 9 that we can see as a burden or an adventure. This 1-minute devotion encourages us to embrace that command joyfully! #BibleLoveNotes #Bible

When we returned from overseas Christian work and moved close to our children and grandchildren in 2009, my husband and I (in our late 50's) thought it would be the last of our 20+ moves.

But five years later, while praying about God's purposes for our lives, God spoke to our hearts. We felt He wanted us to move....we just didn't know where!

Eventually God unfolded His plan for us to volunteer with a ministry in another state. So we left behind children and grandchildren and a community we enjoyed.

Even though God's call on our lives has meant sacrifice at times, we've never regretted any of His plans. Don't get me wrong: every one of His plans have included difficulties, but they've built our faith and they've also brought us wonderful blessings.

Our God of Adventure is like that. He knows we need challenges to grow our faith and help us deal with our sins.

God plans for each of us are different. He may call some to leave their homes and others to stay in one place their whole lives. The key is following Him wherever we are and making whatever sacrifices He asks us to make (Luke 9:23-25).

He may ask us to walk across the street and share Jesus with our neighbors, or give up our vacation funds to give to God's work, or pray faithfully for missionaries, or any number of other things.

Where is God asking you to go with Him? What is He asking you to do with Him? You can be sure that He has an "adventure" of faith in store for all who follow Him.

Christ gives us a command in Luke 9 that we can see as a burden or an adventure. This 1-minute devotion encourages us to embrace that command joyfully! #BibleLoveNotes #Bible
