What Is Man that You are Mindful of Him?

David asks a wonderful and important questions in Psalm 8. We should all ask this question, but few of us do.
Because God is always available to us, always listening, and always ready to forgive, it's easy for us to take His love for granted.

Psalm 8:4 is such a good reality check for us.

David asks God, "What is man that you are mindful of him, the son of man that you care for him?"

David was marveling at the glory of the heavens, and it made him wonder why such a magnificent Creator had placed such glory, honor, and privilege on mankind.

Hadn't God created a perfect world? Hadn't mankind messed it up?

Hadn't mankind been mocking and rejecting God's love for centuries?

Why did this marvelous God love sinful mankind?

David's question was spot-on.

Most men shake their fists at God and ask why He doesn't do more.

But David was filled with awe that the Creator of the moon and stars would love us.

It bears repeating: David's response is the right one.

So let's take a moment today and ponder the fact that so great a God loves us.

  1. I love that question David asked, because sometimes that is how I feel. Good point to ponder!

  2. What does man think of himself that he is not continuously in submissive mindfulness of God Almighty...
