Where Our Faith Is Most Evident

Sometimes we think a person's faith is best revealed in their public ministry or church work...That's not necessarily true.

There are times when God asks us to make great sacrifices or do something especially difficult. These things are important, but it's often our everyday life that best reflects our faith.

How do we treat people, how do we deal with daily difficulties, and how do we live our faith when no one is looking? For example, it’s much easier to share an inspiring testimony at a large gathering than to live out that testimony in the “little things” of everyday life.

We are “a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, God’s special possession, that [we] may declare the praises of him who called [us] out of darkness into his wonderful light” (1 Peter 2:9).

What an inspiring joy and important responsibility this is! And it starts with the “little things” we do each day:

“Whoever can be trusted with very little can also be trusted with much, and whoever is dishonest with very little will also be dishonest with much” (Luke 16:10).

Our faithfulness in the “little things” is part of what God has prepared in advance for us to do (Ephesians 2:10). Not only do the little things equip us for bigger things, they define our faith and reflect our heart (Proverbs 3:5-6; Proverbs 27:19).

In future devotions, we’ll be talking about some specific “little big things” that reflect our faith.
