49 Years, No Problems Solved. In Fact, Problems Are Worse.

Sometimes our culture makes claims that are without support. Christians need to realize the lack of logic often used when discussing social issues.

Bible Love Notes shares devotions about this important subject so the people of God will be informed and equipped to speak up for truth and for life (Proverbs 31:8-9).

Recently a foster care worker told me that we needed to keep abortion legal because the foster care system was worse than ever, overloaded with unwanted, abused, and needy children.

Do you hear the inconsistency in this man's statement?

For 49 years, Roe v. Wade demanded that abortion be available “at any time, for any reason, in any way” (source). Sixty-three million "unwanted" babies died, and the abuse and neglect of children has gotten worse, not better.

All of the children now in the foster care system could legally have been aborted. This proves that aborting "unwanted" children doesn't solve foster care problems. In fact, devaluing unborn children may actually promote the devaluing of born children.

Like pagan child sacrifice, abortion damages minds, lives, and countries (Psalm 106:37-38). It profanes the name of the Lord (Leviticus 18:21).(1)

Many Christian and pro-life organizations, churches, and individuals are actively involved in counseling and providing for pregnant women in difficult situations. Please pray that more people will understand that killing unwanted children is never the best solution.

(1) Did you know that some methods of abortion are every bit as cruel as burning children alive? (Partial birth abortion)

To read about the adult victims in every abortion, see the 1-minute devotion Abortion Victims. For a helpful overview of issues where Christians must stand firm and speak up, see A Necessary Explanation. This will take you 3 minutes to read instead of the usual 1-minute, but it's well worth your time!
