The Father of Lies, Enemy of God

Dear Christians, beware of Satan's lies. Note these popular examples and stand firm.

When Satan wants to refute God’s truths, he inspires people to use lies, exaggeration, and half-truths.

"When [Satan] lies, he speaks his native language, for he is a liar and the father of lies." ~ John 8:44

When Christians talk about the dangers of high self-esteem, some people claim we want people to hate themselves.

But the opposite of pride is humility, not self-loathing (Romans 12:3; 1 Peter 5:6).

When we talk about the Bible’s commands to deny ourselves and think of others first, some people claim we want people to be slaves to the whims of others.

But self-denial is becoming a “slave” to the Lord’s purposes, not other people’s selfish desires (Galatians 1:10).

When we believe what God’s Word teaches about immoral lifestyles, some people claim that we are being hateful.

If explaining God's loving decrees is hateful, then it's God they are calling hateful. Sounds like Satan, doesn't it (1John 3:8)?

When we express concern for the lives of unborn babies, some people claim that unborn babies aren't human.(1)

This is both scientifically and biblically ridiculous, but it fits Satan's mission "to steal and kill and destroy" (John 10:10; 1 John 5:19).

Satan hates God and he is a master at distorting the truth. Stand firm, dear Christians. Don't let Satan shame you!

(1) This is one of many lies Satan tells about abortion. If you haven't read From Veggie Tales to Situational Ethics, I encourage you to do so. It addresses a number of Satan's lies about abortion, offering biblical responses.

Dear Christians, beware of Satan's lies. Note these popular examples and stand firm.
