Are You Feeling Out of Place in this World?

Are you feeling like a foreigner in the world, dear Christians? This 1-minute devotion will inspire you.

I’ve lived three years in Germany and five years in Hungary. As an American who only knew a little bit of German and a little bit of Hungarian, there were times I really felt out of place.

But that doesn’t begin to compare with how out of place I feel in our modern culture. Who’d have thought even twenty years ago that this would be a controversial Bible verse:

“He created them male and female and blessed them.” Genesis 5:2

More than ever before, I understand the truth in 1 Corinthians 1:20: “Has not God made foolish the wisdom of the world?”

As believers, we should feel out of place in this world because the god of this age has blinded the minds of unbelievers (2 Corinthians 4:4). We don't speak their language because “our citizenship is in heaven” (Philippians 3:20; Hebrews 11:13).

But whenever we feel discouraged, we can find comfort in these wonderful words of Jesus:

“In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.” John 16:33

“Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.” John 14:27

May we rest constantly in His peace and love as we face the challenges of the modern world!

More than ever, we must know what Scripture teaches so we can stand firm with our Lord, unashamed of His Word.

What the Bible Teaches About Gender

To understand how to answer some of the popular arguments, see A Letter from a Reader.

Of course, gender is only one of many areas where our world has gone crazy.

To read about a ridiculous argument being used by pro-abortion advocates, check out Foolish Excuses

To read about a false teaching which claims that the Bible approves abortion, see It Won't Hold Water
