When Watching the News Is Depressing

What do Christians do when the News is so depressing. There's an answer!! This 1-minute devotion explains.

“If you look at the world, you'll be distressed. If you look within, you'll be depressed. If you look at God you'll be at rest.” ~ Corrie ten Boom

Was last week's news distressing? Politics … protests … pandemics … persecution … poverty …

When you looked for understanding, was it depressing?

When you opened up God’s Word, did it give your soul rest?

It gave mine rest.

More than ever before, we need to be reading, studying, reciting, memorizing, and growing in God’s Word (2 Timothy 2:15; 2 Timothy 3:16-17; Hebrews 4:12). God’s Word and Spirit within us can do more than we ask or imagine (John 16:33; Philippians 4:13).

Corrie ten Boom and her family suffered for their faith under the Nazis. They did the right things when surrounded by people doing the wrong things. The world news was distressing, human answers were depressing, but the Lord was their comfort.

God’s Word and His Spirit not only give us rest, they teach us to shine like stars in our "wicked and depraved" times (Philippians 2:15).

Let's make sure we are reading, studying, memorizing, and reciting Scripture more than ever before.

-----------------------------

Please use discernment, dear Christians. Many false teachers are "looking within" human reasoning and mixing it with Scripture. That's because a half-truth is always more deceptive than an outright lie. We need the pure power and truth of God’s Word!! Here are some things you might want to study: Half Truths Many Christians Believe.
