Loving Jesus

We often talk about having a "relationship" with Jesus. This 1-minute devotion describes an important aspect of that relationship that we often overlook. #BibleLoveNotes #Bible #Devotions

“Fear the Lord and shun evil.” Proverbs 3:7

What a powerful little sentence: the first action always leads to the second.

When we fear (reverence and thoroughly trust) the Lord, we "shun evil."

That means that we take our sins seriously and do something about them. If we aren’t having victory in some area, we repent and make deliberate efforts to change. Prayer and Scripture are part of our daily schedule. See Psalm 119:10-11, Philippians 2:12-13, and  1 John 1:8-10.

Scripture explains our position in Christ
"No one who is born of God will continue to sin, because God's seed remains in them; they cannot go on sinning, because they have been born of God." 1 John 3:9

But our faith is not built on rules. It's built on love. Jesus defines it this way:

"Whoever has my commands and keeps them is the one who loves me. The one who loves me will be loved by my Father, and I too will love them and show myself to them." Jesus, John 14:21
