The Gospel is Not a Buffet - It's all or nothing
A number of Christians eat the Gospel this way, customizing it to their preferences. They leave out the hard parts and focus on the easy parts. But a plate full of desserts without vitamins, minerals, and protein isn’t a balanced meal and it’s not a balanced Gospel.

Scripture tells us to “taste and see that the Lord is good” (Psalm 34:8) because God’s Word is “sweeter than honey” (Psalm 119:103).

We start our faith diet by craving the pure milk of the Gospel (1 Peter 2:2).

But we can’t stay milk-fed babies or fill our plates with desserts. We need to move on to the solid food of the Gospel (1 Corinthians 3:2).

Love for Christ compels us to eat the solid food of self-denial and obedience (Luke 9:23-24).

The Gospel is a balanced meal, all we need to sustain our faith (Matthew 4:4).

But it’s not a buffet.
