First John identifies six types of liars.
1. People claiming to have fellowship with Jesus but walking in darkness (1:6).
Ephesians 5:6-16 explains the contrast between worldly darkness and Christian light.
2. People who claim they haven’t sinned because they've redefined sin according to culture’s standards, calling God a liar (1:10).
3. People who claim to know Jesus but don’t obey Him (2:4). Jesus says love = obedience (John 14:21; 15:10).
4. People who claim to walk in light while hating their brothers (2:9; 4:20).(1) If we can’t love Christians from different backgrounds, denominations, races, and cultures, we don't know Christ.
5. People who say they love God but really love the world (2:15).
There’s only room for one master in our lives (Matthew 6:24).
6. People who deny Jesus is the Christ, i.e. the Messiah, God Incarnate (2:22). The biggest lie of all!
May we stand firm against these lies.

(1) While the Greek word for brothers in this passage could be used in the broader sense, most commentators understand it to mean fellow believers.------------------------------

ReplyDeleteWow! Deep down I think most of us know,to some extent anyway, that what you just said is true, Gail. But to actually READ the words,to have it glaring back at us in black & white, well it sure makes ME realize how far I need to go in my walk with God! Thank you for this writing!✝✝✝
ReplyDeleteReading the scripture about darkness and light made me cry. Thanks for sharing this. It's one of those things that brings you back to yourself.
ReplyDeleteYeah, Satan has a web of lies that he wants you to believe, he often cries " God is a liar", so you might be deceived. Romans 3:23, God tells us, "For all have sinned and come short of the glory of God". , And than He tells us in Romans 6:23 " For the wages of sin is death"!, In Revelation 20:13,14 "And death and hell were cast into the lake of fire. Thus is the second death( spiritual)".and than God tells us in Romans 5:8" But God commendeth His love towards us, that while we were yet sinner's Christ died for us". And God tells us in Romans 6:23" but the gift if God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" and than God says in "Romans 10:13" For whosoever calls upon the Lord shall be saved" Romans 10:9 "That if thou confess with the mouth the Lord Jesus, and believe in thing heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved" now does this mean I'm going to perfectly because I accepted Jesus Christ as my Lord and savior, no, I Fall short every day, that's why we need Jesus He is the annoited son of God whom all power was given to confess our sins, on a daily basis, no one is going to walk a perfect life, now I'm not excusing these behaviors in Christains, as long as we walk in these flesh bodies we must continue to learn to reconize accept to fight against the carnal and call upon the power of the holy spirit to help us fight against it,vso we study the ways of God through His written word in the Bible and we practice obidenece with daily confession for forgiveness, and we loss those judging eyes, and kearn to walk in love towards one another, remember, when your pointing your fingers at someone else, three are pointing back at you, do worry about how another Christain is living you be the example and live as Christ calls us to live, for the devil loves when we tear each other down, have a blessed day!

DeleteWhen we speak lie we declare SATAN IS OUR FATHER.
ReplyDeleteLord Jesus forgive me and transform me into your light of truth. Align my life according to your word for your word is truth and peace.
ReplyDeleteThe path of the righteous man is beset on all sides by the inequities of the selfish and the tyranny of evil men. Blessed is he who in the name of charity and goid will shepherds the weak through the valley of darkness for he is truly this brothers keeper and the finder of lost children. And I will strike down upon these with great vengeance and furious anger those who attempt to poison and destroy my brothers. And you will know my name is the LORD when I lay my vengeance upon thee.

Thought god an Christ forgave all sins
ReplyDeleteHi Jessye,
DeleteNo, God does not forgive all sins.
1. He doesn't forgive the sins of unbelievers, and the 6 liars identified in 1 John fall into that category.
People who reject Christ are not forgiven and that is why they die in their sins and go to hell.
Jesus said this in John 8:24: "I told you that you would die in your sins; if you do not believe that I am he, you will indeed die in your sins."
2. Christians also need to seek forgiveness even though they are legally forgiven in Christ. They won't go to hell for their sins, but genuine believers are sensitive to sin and want to repent of it and ask God's forgiveness.
1 John 1:8-10: "If we say we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. If we say we have not sinned, we make Him out to be a liar, and His word is not in us."
3. There is one sin that God will not forgive. When the Holy Spirit has revealed Christ to someone and they know in their heart that Christ is God but they reject Him anyway, they commit this sin. People who commit this sin are not sorry or afraid. Their hearts are hard.
Matthew 12:32: And whoever speaks a word against the Son of Man will be forgiven, but whoever speaks against the Holy Spirit will not be forgiven, either in this age or in the age to come.
So, you see, God does not forgive all sin. He only forgives the sins of those who have followed Him, making Him their Lord and Savior.
Thanks for the comment, but there one thing I would like to understand,if am a christian and living right with God all back days of my life , and today I do some thing bad n before I reach home I got car accident n died on the spot , will God consider my back days of righteousness or because of that sin everything is spoiled I go to hell?
ReplyDeleteAnyone in this situation (a genuine believer who dies before confessing a sin) will definitely go to heaven.
DeleteGod knows that we don't immediately recognize each sin in our lives. Sometimes we need time or circumstances to understand and repent. We "grow" in the Lord.
When genuine believers recognize a sin, they confess it and repent. But none of us perfectly recognizes each sin immediately.
