Rooted and Established in Love

Christians with "roots" are easy to recognize. This 1-minute devotion explains. #BibleLoveNotes #Bible
Roots are essential to our life and growth in Christ...

Have you ever known someone who seemed genuinely excited about the Lord until they faced something difficult in life or discovered an unpopular truth in the Bible?

Scripture says they didn't have roots (Matthew 13:5-6,20-21).

Roots provide water and nutrients to the plant, and provide an anchor to hold the plant in the ground.

Ephesians 3:17 talks about Christians being "rooted and established in love."

If we're rooted in Christ's love:

1. We are regularly absorbing spiritual nutrients.

We know we can't live without God's Word feeding our souls (Matthew 4:4), fellowship inspiring our growth (Hebrews 10:24-25), and prayer sustaining our connection to Love Himself (1 Thessalonians 5:17).

2. We stay anchored in the soil of truth, refusing the lies of the enemy and the compromise of our culture.

"Let your roots grow down into him... Then your faith will grow strong in the truth... [and no one] will capture you with empty philosophies and high-sounding nonsense that come from human thinking..." Colossians 2:7-8

Are you rooted?

  1. I was doing a study on the difference between the "milk" and the "meat" of God's Word. They conclusion was LOVE as in "love your enemies" in Luke 6:28. LOVE must be a big part of the "meat" of the word. Putting into practice what we learn when we are on the milk. Your devotion was the very next thing I read after this study of the milk and meat. In order for our roots to go deep, they must have nourishment. (solid food; meat.) I hope this makes sense to someone.
