3 Ways to Overcome Social Media Blues

Facebook can be a fake, negative experience, but Christians can also use it for godly purposes. This 1-minute devotion explains. #BibleLoveNotes #Bible

Even if you don't use social media, I think you'll benefit from this devotion.

Studies show that being on social media makes many people discouraged, disappointed and even depressed.

Why? Because they think everyone's life seems so much better than theirs and/or their posts don't get as much attention as they'd like.

Facebook mimics life. Most people hide their failures and highlight the happy aspects of their lives. Godly values get little attention while ungodly values are quite popular.

Here are three things that can help us deal with social media "blues" and life in general:

1. Be honest with yourself. Everyone has failures and sorrows so if some people's lives look perfect, realize that's not normal. And if you feel discouraged, find your comfort in Christ (2 Corinthians 1:3-7; 2 Timothy 3:16-17), not on social media.

2. Realize that having Jesus as our "friend" is more important than having a huge pile of friends on social media. Other friends will disappoint us, but Christ never will (John 15:15).

3. Find our joy and fulfillment by focusing on God and others, not on ourselves (Matthew 22:36-40).

Facebook, Pinterest, and Instagram can be a source of joy and ministry for Christians if we pray for others, post inspiring images, Scriptures and quotes to encourage others, and present our lives honestly.

Please read today's notes if you use Facebook or Pinterest:

Facebook:

If you use Facebook, please commit a few minutes to "ministry" whenever you connect:

Use one of these direct Links to our 3 pages:
And when you get there, please like and share several Bible Love Notes images or devotions, whichever you especially like. We also have a Bible Love Notes Discussion group, where you can leave your thoughts about each day's devotions.

Even though the main BLN page has 500k followers, Facebook typically only sends devotions into 1%-10% of our followers' feeds.

But if you go directly to the pages (using the links above) and like, share, and comment regularly on our posts, they will go out to more people, encouraging them in the Lord.

Pinterest:

If you're on Pinterest, please commit a few minutes to ministry:

Please follow  the Bible Love Notes Pinterest page. And go to the our page regularly to see a variety of devotions to encourage you.

When you come across a devotion in your Pinterest feed, put your curser on the picture and click "visit site" or click the title of the devotion. That will take you to the devotion so you can read it. When you read, like, and share BLN devotions, you help get God's Word into more people's Pinterest feeds.
