According to a university study, most people (92%) don't follow through on their New Year's Resolutions.
The study cites these reasons:
- Setting goals too high
- Making goals too general
- Lacking accountability
- Lacking confidence to succeed
Christians should always have this New Year's resolution: to know God better. And we can beat the odds by doing these things:
- Be Realistic. If you don't have a quiet time, don't resolve to spend an hour daily. Start with a reasonable goal. See Quiet Time Guilt.
- Be Specific. Make up a prayer list and use a Bible reading plan, or read your Bible Love Note and look up the verses it references. See Spice Up Your Quiet Time for more ideas.
- Be Accountable. Ask someone to check on you and make sure you are regularly spending time with the Lord. See 3 Benefits of Praying with a Friend.
- Be Confident in God's Help. You can't do it on your own. See Secret Strength.
